The Short Answer
Most fences are priced by the linear foot, plus gates and a few one-time costs. Two fences of the same length can be priced very differently depending on the style and the ground. Here's what matters most, so you can compare quotes fairly.
Factor 1
From most to least budget-friendly, the common choices usually run roughly in this order:
Factor 2
Total footage is the biggest number on any fence quote. Height matters too: a 6-foot privacy fence uses more material than a 4-foot fence. Measure the run you need, or trace it on the satellite map in our instant estimate.
Factor 3
Every gate adds cost. A single walk gate is the norm; double drive gates for a mower or trailer cost more. We build wood gates on welded steel frames with anti-sag cable, so they keep closing properly.
Factor 4
Huntsville has a lot of sloped yards. Slopes, rocky soil, tree roots and tight access can all add labor. On a slope, we step or rack the panels so the fence follows the ground.
Factor 5
Tearing out an old fence and pulling the old posts is extra work, and it's usually priced separately. It's worth it: the new fence starts clean.
Factor 6
Staining a wood fence is a separate price, usually done 30–90 days after install once the wood dries. It protects the fence and is often required by HOAs.
